Best Answer

A half of an amp equals 500 mA.

ma or mA means milliAmp or milliAmpere. As milliAmpere and Ampere are related as: 1mA = 1*10^-3 A = 0.001 A, so you can express 500 ma as 500*0.001 A = 0.5 A. See relarted linksbelow.

You can't convert units of power to units of current - those are different things. They are related as follows:

Watts = volts x amperes

This is assuming DC; in AC there are some additional complication:

Watts = volts x amperes x power factor

However, the power factor is often close to 1.

How many watts per hour will a unit that is rated at DC 12V 500mA consume?

Power = volts x amps, so your example will be 12 x 0.5 = 6 watts. (500mA = 0.5 amp) Note we don't talk of 'watts per hour', it is just watts. 1 watt = 1 joule per second

What is the difference between output 30V 500mA with output 12V DC 700mA?

30 Volts 500ma means: 30volts, AC or DC not specified, at a rate of 500ma = roughly 15 watts electrical energy supplied. With out the AC or DC specified no gues on what it could be used for can be made. 12 V DC 700ma means: 12 Volt Direct Current with a supply rate of 700ma roughly 8.4 watts. This type of power supply common for things like cell phone chargers, Small battery charges for things like AA or AAA Nicad or Lithium Batteries.

What will happen if use a 12v 400ma instead of 12v 500ma?

i am not sure, BUT according to the answer in this post:Can_you_use_a_9V_600mA_adapter_on_a_9V_400ma_scanneryou need an adaptor of 9v and AT LEAST 500mA (assuming that the appliance draws 500mA)

How much power can be supplied to any appliance by a laptop?

Assuming your using a USB port to power your device, the answer is 2.5 Watts. A maximum of 500mA at 5V can be drawn from a Usb port. Power = Current * Voltage, which is 2.5 Watts by 0.5 Amps giving you a power output of 2.5 Watts http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#Power http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_(physics)#Average_electrical_power_for_AC
