Are you serious? Did you read a paper or watch television in the week before asking and answering this question? It's been all over the news lately that a woman in California (who already had 6 kids) gave birth to octuplets!

Everyone who writes about it is now finding that spell-check does not recognize the word, but clearly a live birth of 8 is possible.

no maximum but of course there is a limit on the number of the embryos that can be developed in the uterus as there is limited space. The maximum will be roughly 8, but it will differ slightly between different women.
