It depends on what breed of dog. Some small breeds only have 1 or 2 puppies at a time while 8 to 12 for larger breeds might be normal. I think the world record for puppies is currently 24.I think it depends on how many they can carry and if they come out died.

They CAN have puppies every six months from maturity to death.

But they SHOULD have puppies only 2-3 times.

It varies between breeds because of the heat periods, on average she could have 30 pups with 5 litters and 6 pups per litter.

It is unwise to allow a female to have more than two or three litters in her lifetime as over-breeding her could result in physical and psychological damage. Most Kennel Club's will not register more than three or four litters from the same female even if the puppies are purebred.

I depends on how healthy your dog is and how big it is, but most dogs can only have 3 pregnancies, while still being healthy enough to live.

Male dogs can breed indefinitely and they will not lose health no matter how many times they mate. However, female dogs should only breed up to two or three times in their life as any more than this can be harmful to the females physical and mental well-being. Most Kennel Club's will not register more than three or four litters from the same female.

i think that 3 times is about enough, as you want the puppies to be healthy and safe.

if you want to have more puppies once the mother dog has had the puppies then wait till a girl puppy is healthy and about 2 years of age breed her:-)

It all depends depending on the size of the dog. A Norwich Terrier normally has 1-3 puppies in one litter while a Golden Retriever can have a littler between 5-10 and possibly even more! Usually it is the smaller the dog, the smaller the litter or in some cases the bigger the dog the bigger the litter.

In any breeding case it is the best to have the female bigger than the male. If the male is a few pounds bigger than the female that will have no effect. BUT do not have the female 20 pounds smaller. If you try breeding the Norwich Terrier (female) with the Golden Retriever (male) the female will most likely die in birth. (That is at least my understanding of it).

1's a year from 18 months onwards to when it doesn't fall pregnant any more, but if you don't want your dog to die young you should only bread 2-3 times, make sure to get them in on the earlier years because the dog is fit and health in it's earlier years.

How many litters can a cat have in a cats lifetime?

Cats often come into heat every couple of weeks, with a gestation period of around 63 days. A Queen will often come back into heat when the kittens are weaned (around six to eight weeks). So, a female cat can have many, many litters during her lifetime.

How many litters does a sow have in its lifetime?

Two . They are pregnant 114 days. Some say 3 mos., 3 weeks, and 3-5 days. Both are correct. They will generally go into 'heat' 4 weeks after nursing of their babies stops.

How many kittens can a cat have in a lifetime?

The number of kittens a female cat can have in her lifetime depends upon climate and daylight hours, which is how her heat cycle is determined. Whether she is an indoor cat, a cat used for breeding, or an outdoor feral cat, will also affect the number of kittens she can have, as the mortality rate for outdoor kittens is about 75%. The average gestation period for a cat is 63 days, so theoretically she could have 3 litters a year, with an average litter being 4 to 6 kittens. Realistically, however, it is more likely that she would have one to two litters a year with the ability to produce approximately 200 kittens in her lifetime if she is not spayed.

How many litters can a cat have safely?

NONE! Please spay your cat! There are way too many kittens that are put to sleep in shelters each year! Actually, if your thinking PHYSICALLY, which you probably are, a cat should only have one litter a year because it takes a while for her body to recover enough to have another litter. Although she can probably have two litters without hurting herself too much.

How many litters per year do malamutes have?

Although it is possible for a dog to have two litters a year, this is not adviseable as it puts too much strain on the mother. Dogs should not have more than two or three litters in their lifetime and most major Kennel Clubs will not register puppies from a female that has had more than three litters.
