A gasoline tanker truck holds 9,000 gallons of gasoline. Since a barrel of oil is 44 gallons, one can assume that an oil tanker truck can haul about 200 barrels of crude. So now the question becomes: Are the gasoline tanker trucks and crude tanker trucks using the same size tanks?

The reason I was looking for this is because I invest in junior oil companies and Tri-Valley Corporation in Bakersfield has two big finds and has choked back production because they simply don't have enough tanker trucks to haul the oil away. Within 6 months, I estimate they will be hooked up to a pipe line, but until then they are scrounging for trucks. So I am accumulating the stock, but very slowly until I hear how many trucks they have, which will determine their shipping capacity. So you see, there are very real reasons for having access to this kind of information. - Jerry Hill, California Central Coast.

most about 200 bbls by the way a bbl is 42 gal but it all depends on the gravity of the oil as it can variy a lot from well to well rule of thumb for my trucks is 134+ gravity to determine the load and it takes a class 307/407 trailer most gas wagons are 306 and won't work

Edit by Don Lawson - I was an oil hauler for a while and I have created a calculator to tell you specifically how much oil you can haul on your truck. You must know your empty axle weights, total empty weight, internal and external bridge lengths before you can use it. Just go to oeprod.com or barrelcalculator.com to use it. The site is a work in progress but is usable.
