Though the percentage is high, it should also be taken into consideration the amount of crime whites more often get away with or get a mere slap on the wrist compared to those of other races or heritages who either face the full extent of the punishment or are merely racially profiled. Racism plays a huge factor in the amount of people of color in prison compared to those who are white.
