I don't have the calorie information for Sheridan's, but plain frozen custard is 936 calories per quart (which is a lot). The toppings add just about as many calories as the custard; for instance, when I go to Sheridan's I get a quart of butterscotch. A cup of butterscotch syrup is about 900 calories, and they probably put about half a cup in a quart. So in this case, the toppings make up half of the total calories for the dessert (total calories = 1500).
Well, it depends. if it's a chocolate custard, I'm sure it has more calories than say a flan, but it all depends.
Using my grandma's baked custard recipe, the calorie content breaks down as follows:
465 calories in 3 eggs
0 calories in 1/4 tsp. salt
6 calories in 1/2 tsp. vanilla
194 calories in 1/4 cup sugar
292 calories in 2 cups milk
957 calories total, divided by 6 servings = 160 calories per serving.
Keep in mind that any topping or other flavorings will add calories. Commercial custard products will be far different, for example:
Good Times Burgers Frozen Vanilla Custard, 1 scoop = 330 calories
Ted Drewes Vanilla Frozen Custard, 1 'serving' = 200 calories
Ritter's Original Frozen Custard Base Mix, 1/2 cup = 180 calories
Rita's Frozen Custard, medium size cup = 370 calories
East Coast Original Frozen Custard, chocolate, 1 small cup or cone = 250 calories
As you can see, calorie counts in commercial products vary widely. You should always read the package label or ask the restaurant for the nutrition information on their products. You may also find this information on line; the above quoted products were found on the internet. For the complete recipe for baked custard, see the related question below.
There are approximately 400 calories in a small serving of apple crumble. If you eat about 1/2 cup serving, that's about 350 calories. But come on, who eats just 1/2 cup? I would call a decent sized portion about 2 cups! But it also depends on how the crumble is made. If there's a lot of butter, sugar, etc., there's going to be more calories. Honestly, don't think on it. If you're going to eat a good piece of apple crumble, then eat it! Yes, there's going to be a lot of calories, it's not the healthiest thing, but if you've been good all day, you deserve it!
a small one would be like 210 calories, medium would be 340 calories and totally big one would be about 470 calories :)
