Eat a balanced diet of 1,200 calories per day; the keyword being balanced -- a proper mix of protein, carbs, and vegetables - with minimal fat and sugar. Sugar you can live without, and should - if at all possible. NOTE: Fruit and juice IS sugar. One piece of fruit per day is plenty if you're eating your green veggies.

Whenever I've decided to lose 10-20 pounds, I stick with 8,400 calories per week (so it evens out to 1,200 calories per day.) Why? It's easier to stick in something that you really LOVE during your week and deduct those calories the next day (or two) and thus, you don't feel deprived. It helps you stick with the plan!

After desired weight loss, you can use this method to maintain -- raising your daily caloric level to match your current weight.

Forget "diets" and make this a lifestyle and you'll be one happy, trim camper! :)
