How many candle branches are there in a Hanukkah Menorah?

Answer:
Nine. This is why it is called a hanukkiah, not a Menorah. The Menorah has seven branches. The Haunkkiah has nine in memory of the eight days that the oil burned. The center light is called the shammash (the servant). This candle is the one lit first, and it is used to light all the others. Properly speaking, it is NOT counted as one of the branches because it is the "lighter" branch.
