The right atrium, receives oxygen-poor blood from the body.
The right ventricle, pumps the blood from the right atrium to the lungs, for oxygenation.
The left atrium, receives the newly oxygenated blood from the lungs.
The left ventricle, pumps this oxygenated blood to the rest of the body.
Valves:
The bicuspid valve allows blood to flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle, and prevents backflow.
The tricuspid valve allows blood to flow from the right atrium to the right ventricle, and prevents backflow.
The two semilunar valves allow blood to flow from the ventricles, either into the pulmonary arteries from the right side, or into the aorta from the left side, and prevent backflow.
