If you're wondering if you need a 2 year or 4 year degree, the answer is that you need at least a BA or BS degree from an accredited institution in order to be a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Navy in most cases. There are a limited number of methods to earn a commission through the enlisted ranks, but these are becoming harder every year.

∙ 14y agoTo become and Officer or eligible for Officer Candidate School (OCS) you must hold at the least a Bachelors degree from a creditable college or university. You must also score high enough on the ASVAB minimum GT score of 110 and not have any major law violations (ie. DUI, Possession Charges) and be under the age of 29 years old (waiverable to a certain age).
For someone who is already enlisted you can apply for the Green to Gold Program in which you must have at the least 90 college credits from a creditable college or university and still have the minimum GT score of 110 and not have any major law violations (ie. DUI, Possession Charges).
