The credit hours needed to earn a bachelor's degree depend upon the area that the student has chosen as a major. Typically The Bachelor's degree can require between 120 and 128 credits. Some degrees require a bit more. For example, architecture is a five-year degree.

Depending on the program, you would need 120 to 128 credits to earn a bachelor's degree. First choose a program that aligns with your interest and career goals. Then search for a good college that provides the kind of quality education and accreditation that you would need to increase your prospects of finding a good job. You should do a thorough research on the college and don't believe everything you read; there are students who love to rant! A good way to know is to look up the reviews on a neutral third-party accrediting organization.

The number of credit hours depends upon the bachelor's degree you are pursuing. Typically, a bachelor's program can last for up to 4 years and requires 120 to 130 credits. Also, depending upon what a student majors in, he is required to earn 30 to 50 credits as major credits. For elective courses, students usually require up to 30 credits. Number or credits required to complete a degree may also depend upon whether you pursue an online degree.
A bachelor's degree in most areas can require between 124 to 128 college credits particular to a specific program of study. This would be based on a college or university that operates on a regular two semester academic year which is the most common. For institutions that operate on a tri-semester or quarter-semester it would be quite different. That being said, the Bachelor's degree - in most cases - is designed as a four year program of study, provided the student is full-time and follows their chosen program of study as prescribed by the college or university, and also provided the individual does not require prerequisite or developmental course work. The minimum credit load for a full-time student is no less than 12 credits per semester. However, to complete the degree within the four years, a credit load of approximately 15 to 18 credits is recommended. For individuals who work or who have other responsibilities that would prohibit them from attending full-time, completion of the degree may take twice as long. Still, some of this time can be cut down by attending summer sessions and/or interim sessions. In addition, the bachelors and associate degrees are referred to as undergraduate degrees with the Masters and Doctorate degrees referred to as graduate degrees.

I'm pretty sure at all CA state universities, you need a minimum of 120 units (some being GE courses and others being those that count specifically towards your major), how much more you need depends on your major...unsure about the UC (California university, not state) system though, their number of required credits might be different.

A bachelors degree can take between 120 and 128 credits to complete depending on the college or university, and the specific program of study. Thus, when transferring to a four year institution, you would have to complete an additional 60 to 64 credits. This is provided that the school you transfer to accepts your associates degree, full faith in credit. Some institutions can be very strict on what they accept. However, the associates in arts degree is typically a transfer program, so you should be fine.
