There are 435 representatives (congressmen/congresswomen) In the US house of representatives. There are 535 representatives overall if you count the 100 senators (2 from each state) If the president vetoes a proposed law it takes 1/3 or at least 145 (congressmen/congresswomen) to pass it into law and thus overrides the veto. congressmen/congresswomen can all be referred to as representatives. However, congressmen/congresswomen are from the house of representatives while the senators are from the senate. Again, all are representatives. Clear?
