Hitler was born in Austria, and moved the Germany as a young adult. During WWII he established a forward headquarters near the village of Rastenburg, in what was then East Prussia, a part of Germany, but today is in Poland. He spent a lot of time at Rastenburg closely overseeing the Russian campaign, the better to meddle with his generals plans. It was at this headquarters that the conspirators tried to blow him up on July 20, 1944.
