actually... before u plant the mongo seed you have to soak it in water for a night so that it is easy to plant and grow... the next day.... you can plant it... for the following day a seed leaf may grow... so approximately, one week is enough..

Prepare a good soil, place mongo seeds covered with a thin layer of soil on top and water it well then you are ready to observe. You may even just spread the seeds over a damp soil. If you want another way , use a damp cotton cloth to line the bottom of a small basin. Place your mongo seeds evenly and sprinkle water above it to make the entire area moist. Keep it for a day or two or as desired sprinkling water regularly. Exposure to sunshine should be based on your experiment. Bear in mind that germination of mongo seeds are very dependent to the amount of moisture, type of soil, and presence of light. =)

USDA Hardiness Zone 10 or 11 is required for outdoor growth of a mango seed as this is a tropical fruit and needs frost-free, warm, humid days. If properly prepared, the mango seed should sprout or germinate in 7 to 14 days, though it might take as long as 60 days. In a year it will be about 4 feet high and will produce fruit in 2 to 4 years depending on the species.
