One of the most important aspects of losing weight for a 55 year old, you have to start with very minimal exercise, such as walking from your house to a park and going back home. It is crucial to allow time until your body becomes conditioned to that mode of exercise.

You need to start to remove any bad eating habits you may have, and once you find healthy alternatives which you could slowly introduce into your regime. I strongly recommend porridge with honey, or fruits that you may prefer. Your diet needs to be in conjunction with your exercise routine and over time, I have personally seen that this almost becomes robotic. You wake up, exercise, eat the same category of food, carry on with other plans and errands for the day and then having a large meal rich in carbohydrates. These are really good in storing energy, and I also recommend a high fibre diet which improves bowel function. A high fibre diet along with exercise is one of the strongest ways to keep yourself healthy and in the meanwhile, boost your self-esteem and self worth.

Progressing this into jogging for 30 minutes, along with eating fewer calories, you have the ability to burn fat and strengthening your bones. This can seem intimidating in the beginning as we naturally tend to overthink and think of things in a negative point of view which is not beneficial.

This is a conventional method that many people follow. It involves discipline,

dedication, consistency and our most valuable asset - time. We waste a lot of valuable time that we can't get back and I firmly believe that we should do the best that we can in the moment rather than wallow in self-pity as that energy can be directed elsewhere, and productively.

Another method that i recommend is following a healthy weight loss regime which involves a propriety blend of 6 powerful nutrients and plants; I think that this may be for you. If you'd like to learn more, I strongly suggest checking the link in my bio. It may just be life changing.

There is no specific healthy weight for a 55-year-old (or a person of any age) because weight is related to heightand body composition rather than age. Please feel free to ask the question again and include more detail. In any event, what counts more than your body weight is your body fat percentage. To learn more about your body fat percentage, see the page link, further down this page, listed under Related Questions.

That depends on how much you are eating. If you have been restricting your calories to get to a certain weight, you need to figure out how many more calories you are expecting to eat and then adjust your exercise accordingly. It takes ALOT of exercise to eat up calories. At first your body will not be terribly efficient but if you continue to exercise 6 to 12 months you will notice that you can eat more and not gain weight. It is a fine balance and it takes quite a bit of self control. You also need to weigh yourself daily you notice even small weight gains.

You can work out (a reasonable amount) every day. If you do it less than every other day, your muscles may begin to forget the pattern that you're trying to set. Moderate exercise may be better than anything intensive in order to preserve the health of your joints.

If you're just getting started, it could be a good idea to ease into the new regimen gradually, to avoid aches on the day after.
