Since cotton is available all over the world, the types of fabrics is unlimited. You will find silk-like fine cotton, and the opposite, very rough, heavy cotton canvas. It is used to make Levi's jeans, and the finest lingerie. Cotton is used in flannel baby clothes, and to make furniture upholstery. The weave of the fabric, and the thickness of the thread or yarn varies for each product. You can find very fine, soft, yet tough bedding, and the stronger, corded fabric used for pants.

There are four main types of raw cotton; namely American Upland, Egyptian, Sea Island and Asiatic. From these plants, cotton is processed into an almost endless variety of fabrics.
