How many different types of elephants are there?

Answer:
There are currently 3 living species:
  1. African Elephant
  2. Asian Elephant
  3. Indian Elephant


There are also subspecies for each type.
  • African - African Forest, West African, etc.
  • Indian - Borneo Pygmy and Sri Lankan. (Srilankan elephants are divided to for types. which are "Saddantha, Mangala, Pandara & Ruhunu)
