If you assume that each generation had a child at the age of 18 and the eldest was 90 years old, then there would be 6 generations at the reunion. This can be greater if the eldest is older than 90 and each generation had a child earlier than 18. For example there would be 7 generations at the reunion if the eldest was still 90 and each generation had a child at 15 years of age.

How to Plan a Reunion?

Reunions are events that bring people together to renew or strengthen relationships. They are great opportunities to catch up on the lives of loved ones or acquaintances. An upcoming family reunion, a class reunion, a get together of old military buddy’s, or gathering of former co-workers is usually a long awaited event. Since people often travel great distances to attend a reunion, such an event must be carefully planned. The frequency and purpose a reunion may determine how detailed the planning must be; frequent family reunions might need little preparation other than setting a date and place, while a 25 year school reunion might need a chairperson and several helpers to make it function smoothly. Things to consider for a large, formal reunion might include: • Getting an up-to-date roster of names and addresses. This might take many months, so the chairperson or whoever is assigned the task needs to start early. • Set a date and understand there will always be people who cannot attend. • Send postcards or invitations with initial reunion information to every person in the group, asking for at least a tentative RSVP. Do this many months in advance. • Decide upon funding for the event. If a large hall of banquet facility will be used, how will food and rental costs be covered? • If food will be served, follow-up notices should include food choices. Make the choices simple and include a vegetarian option. • Find out how many guests require lodging and either reserve a block of rooms for the group at a local hotel, or send hotel information to out-of-town guests. • If the reunion is not an annual event, have name tags made for guests and other attendees. • Arrange for an alternate, ‘rainy day’ site if the event is planned outdoors. • Consider the need for a photographer. A local free-lance photographer might cover the event for only the cost of photos ordered by the guests. The goal of a reunion is to create an atmosphere where family, or old friends can comfortably interact with one another. A reunion can be as simple as a picnic, or an elaborate affair at a 5 star resort.
