Best Answer

An allele is an alternative form of a gene (one member of a pair) that is located at a specific position on a specific chromosome. Different chromosomes contain different numbers of genes on them, and different organisms contain different numbers of chromosomes.

But for any specific gene on a specific individual organism, it will have only two alleles for each gene: one from its mother and one from its father.

Nobody knows yet exactly how many genes there are on any human chromosome.

Here are some recent figures:

X chromosome 1529 genes (155 million base pairs)

Y chromosome 344 genes (57 million base pairs).

However, these should be regarded as approximate while scientists work towards higher resolution sequencing and more complete interpretation.

Alleles are variations of a trait and there is no set number of alleles in general, however on a chromosome pairs you get one version from mon and another from dad so--- two as long as it is not a multiple allele trait.

Blood type in humans is controlled by which alleles?

Human blood type is determined by codominant alleles.

How many alleles are there for blood type-?

There are three alleles for blood type: IA=Blood type A IB=Blood type B i=Blood type O The alleles for blood type A and B are codominant so when someone contains the IA and IB alleles, their blood type is AB.

What are some human traits that are caused by multiple alleles?

The heredity of the ABO blood groups are governed by multiple alleles.

How do multiple alleles control the trait?

In the case of multiple alleles, one trait is governed by more than two alleles. One example is the human ABO blood group. There are three alleles, A, B, and O. A person can, however, only inherit two of the three alleles.

What is multi alleles?

A multi-allele trait is one that is governed by more than two alleles. One example is the human ABO blood group. There are three alleles, A, B, and O. A person can, however, only inherit two of the three alleles.
