A 40 hour work week is considered full time. This is 5 days a week for 8 hours a day. According to labor laws a person who works over 40 hours should be paid over time unless it is part of the job description. An example of this is teachers. They are not paid overtime for back to school nights, open house, sports, graduation. This is because it is required as part of their job.
Many places consider anything over 30 hours a week as full time.

∙ 13y agoThe Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) does not define full-time employment OR part-time employment. This is a matter generally to be determined by the employer.
