How many hours will it take to get from California to Chicago by train?

The Southwest Chief travels from Los Angeles to Chicago. It leaves Los Angeles at 6:45 pm, reaches Colorado about 24 hours later, and arrives in Chicago at 3:20 pm the following day (if it's on time). Total number of hours seems to be about 45 (not taking time changes into account).

The California Zephyr travels from San Francisco (Emeryville) to Chicago and it seems to take a bit longer.
