That depends on the person. If they have a a high tolerance from years of use it can be over 10. I know a person who can take (16) 5mg tablets of Oxycodone which is stronger but without the Tylenol and have no overdose affect. On Hydrocodone the second number AKA the 500mg is the amount of Acetaminophen or Tylenol in the combination. A person with great tolerance would probably get sick off the Tylenol before a Hydrocodone overdose. Now that is a person who takes a lot of Oxycodone. I guess if you are looking for a basic rule, figure the max amount a person can take before feeling sick and add three pills and that should be an overdose to kill. An overdose is explained when the person gets sick from the medication and the body rejects it. Hydrocodone slows the pulse rate and hampers breathing. So an overdose that kills will stop the heart and lungs!
