I would put it at four kittens but it depends on the cat.

More Information:

In peak years and under good conditions queens can produce average litters of 4 to 5 kits. Many factors influence litter size, the queens: breed (genetics), age, health and condition, nutrition, and even her comfort with her environment; to name a few.

Usually a Mother Cat has up to at least 1-8 kittens if it does NOT get nutered.Nutering your cat just means it cant mate with another cat again and will never get pregnant.

Usually the number is more like 4 to 6.
