A centipede has two legs per segment, one on each side. And they usually stick out to the side of the centipede. A milipede has 4 legs per segment, two on each side, and they are usually more under the body of the milipede.

What is flat segmented body and has one pair of legs per segment?

Does a centipede have 100 legs or feet?

No. They don't have exactly 100 legs. It depends on the species; centipedes can have up to 15 pairs of legs to a 180. Because they're called 'centipedes' doesn't mean that they have to have 100 legs. It's the same with millipedes, they can have up to 200 pairs.

How are a centipede and a millipede the same?

The class difference is the number of legs per body segment : a centipede has one pair of legs to each segment, while a millipede has two pairs. However, the two classes are very dissimilar and mostly look nothing alike.Centipedes (class Chilopoda) have flattened bodies and longer antennae for their size.Millipedes (class Diplopoda) have long, taller, semi-cylindrical bodies.

What is the differences between a centipede and a millipede?

Centipedes have one set of legs per body segment and millipedes have two sets per segment. Millipede means "thousands of feet". Has two pairs or four legs on most body segments. Centipede means "hundreds of feet". Has one pair or two legs on each body segment. Although neither has anywhere near "hundreds of feet" the centipede generally has fewer legs than a millipede. Millipedes are non-toxic, but centipedes do contain some venom that can cause irritation.

How many pairs of pedipalps do spiders have?

A centipede would have 50 pairs of legs, adding to 100 legs. Cent is the French word for 100 (one hundred), and would therefore mean it would have 100 legs Centipedes do not always have 100 legs. They can have anywhere between 20 to 300 legs despite rumours of them having 100 Centipedes have one pair of legs per body segment. This differentiates them from millepedes, which have two pairs of legs per body segment.

How is a millipede different from a centipede?

Millipedes are large, poisonous, and armored with a thick shell. They have dozens of legs as well. They usually are found in jungle environments. Centipedes are small, non-poisonous, and defend themselves with stinging/biting. They also have many legs, and are found under rocks, bricks, etc. like you would find worms or slugs. They are found everywhere that contains moderate temperatures (US region).

What is the name of a bug or insect that has about 40 legs?

You are probably referring to the millipede of which there are about 1000 different species. They are somewhat misnamed since they have anywhere from 36 to about 400 legs (depending on the species), but they sure look like they have a million. You might also be referring to the centipede which has 24 to about 200 legs, again depending on the species. You can easily tell the two apart by the fact that the millipede has a rounded body with two pairs of legs on each segment, whereas the centipede has a flattened body with a single pair of legs per segment - that is if you can get one to stay still long enough to tell.
