Yes, seat belt laws should remain mandatory. The number of lives saved and severe injuries prevented each year easily justifies the laws.
About 16,000 lives were saved in 2005 due to air bags. But, there are also risks. You have to wear a seatbelt in order for the air bag to actually work. Otherwise the exact opposite of what an air bag is suppost to due will happen, a life will be taken.
