AnswerUse an accurate instant read meat thermometer. The Department of Agriculture recommends an internal temperature of a turkey to be 165 degrees in the inner part of the thigh. The breast meat will be about 10 degrees higher. Grilled over indirect heat it should take approximately 11-14 minutes per pound.

Hi! I have a suggestion for you that I use every time I cook a turkey. Butterball.com has great charts to help you select the size turkey you'll need based on how many guests, and also will ask if the bird is fresh or frozen; stuffed or unstuffed. It'll figure out how long at what temp for you! My turkey is 13 pounds, so I'll cook at 325 for about three hours. I always use a meat thermometer as well as watch the pop-up thingy that comes with the bird to make sure it's done enough, but not overcooked. Hope this helps. I use it every year, and have had great results. you'll do fine! Happy Thanksgiving Here are some useful guidelines for bringing your bird up to 170 degrees F. Suggestions vary, but the concensus is to roast for 20-30 minutes per pound at 325-325 degrees. You want to get to an internal temperature in the center of the roast of 175F.
