Any U.S. Serviceman can become a SEAL, as long as the educational, physical, and madical requirements are met. In the case of a Marine first said marine would have to serve his obligated contract with USMC, or get a waiver and sign new contract of enlistment with the navy. Just talk to your career counsellor and get guidance on proper course of action. But the answer to the question is, YES a Marine can become a Navy SEAL, there are just a few more steps to climb. In any case if being a SEAL is the goal then that person will find a way. I know several former Marines that are in the teams now.
Paul Vunak is still teaching Navy Seals, in fact we just lost one of our Seals Jesse from the chopper crash in Afghanistan (all respect to his family). The Seals come to use now, back in the late 80's Paul & Tom worked for 3 & half years in Virginia training all the teams. We have several seals training with us through out the month when ever their schedules work out. After sometime in Virginia Paul & Tom wanted out of there contracts with the department of the Navy, because the lifestyle there was getting old, so they got out early from there contracts. They were suppose to be there for 4 years, but they asked to cut there contracts short. The rest is history! I think it is funny when forums talk about Paul, they should train with him before saying negative things. Talking heads!
