Kennedy and Ford definitely. Possibly Carter and Reagan. It should be noted the BSA was only founded in l908, and for example, President Johnson was only Born in that year, so (he was president l963-68) so one has to box the compass chronologically.Theodore Roosevelt supported the movement, and was almost a co-founder with Daniel Beard and Ernest Thompson Seton of ( Wild Animals I have Known) sorry, there is no chapter on Philip Spector in Seton"s tome.

JFK was the first former scout to be President.

Gerald Ford was the first and only Eagle Scout to be president.

Bill Clinton and GW Bush were cub scouts.

Since the inception of scouting in 1910 nearly all of the presidents have had some realtionship to scouting, often as adult leaders.

How many Boy Scouts will earn the rank of Eagle this year?

That number is unknown as it takes place in the future. Statistically, 2% of all boy scouts will achieve the rank of Eagle. It is not very many.

What percentage of population are eagle scouts?

The BSA states " Not every boy who joins a Boy Scout troop earns the Eagle Scout rank; only about 5 percent of all Boy Scouts do so. " In 2010 there were 898,186 Boy Scouts and 56,176 Eagle Scout awards presented, thus it would appear to be 6.2%. But male Venturers who earned First Class in a troop can continue to work towards Eagle Scout while in a crew. There were a total of 238,846 Venturers, but we don't know how many were eligible, but the percentage goes down. As of 2008 (the last year I have totals), there had been 83,486,083 Scouts since 1911 and 1,880,905 Scouts had earned Eagle Scout, making it 2.2% for the total.

How many eagle scouts returned their badges?

Eagle Scouts have returned their awards in protest at several different times and over several different issues over the years. In 2012 another round of highly publicized returns occurred over the BSA's re-affirmation of its policy to exclude homosexuals. One group called Scouting for All claims that 1000 scouts have done so, however, the BSA is not releasing statistics on the true number and Scouting for ALL has not released proof of their assertion. There is no way for anyone but the BSA to know how many they have received. When you consider that 50,000 Eagles are earned annually with about 2 million being earned since 1911 (2% of all scouts) even the 1000 number, if true, represents a very small fraction. Returning an Eagle award is a truly uncommon event.

Was Mitt Romney a Boy Scout?

No. According to one biographer, Hugh Hewitt, Mitt Romney has stated regarding being an Eagle Scout, "I should have been, but again I manipulated my mother into not forcing me to go to scouts." 3 of his 5 sons are Eagle Scouts. Of this he said, "After the first two boys, we realized getting to Eagle Scout - It's the mothers that make it happen. So she became a merit badge counselor, and she did what was necessary to drive the next three boys all to Eagle Scout." He has sat on the Executive Board of Boy Scouts of America for over 10 years.

What percentage of Utah Boy Scouts become Eagles?

First answer - 15% Another comment - Questions like this are frequently asked. I have looked and not been able to find such detailed information. Nationwide about 2-4% of all scouts attain Eagle. While it is possible that Utah scouts are significantly more likely to earn Eagle than others, I would take the response of 15% with a very large grain of salt unless verified elsewhere.
