Hi, It's usually 3/4 to 1 cup. That depends on it's size though. I bake and cook a lot and this is how I do any dry measurement. One fist full is a half a cup, it works everytime.
The web references vary and show medium onions as 3/4 to 1 cup chopped and large onions as 1 to 1.5 cups chopped.
Depends on how big the cup is...
