How many liquid oz can you take on a plane?

Fluids and gels must be stored in individual containers of 3 ounces or less. These containers must be placed inside a clear plastic bag.

These rules only apply to carry on luggage. Luggage that is checked can have liquids and gels exceeding 3 ounces.
