In Sept 2005, google indexed about 8 billion pages. They stopped advertising their index size on their search page since then.
A google blog page (http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/07/we-knew-web-was-big.html) specifies the number of non-duplicate webpages indexed by them to be about 1 trillion in July 2008.
Also, the same blog says that few billion new pages are added to the internet everyday. Due to auto generated content on the web, the size of the web is not easy to determine anymore, and can be said to be infinite from some points of view.
Google used to show its approximate possibly inaccurate index size of 8 billion pages at the bottom of its homepage. However, because of the inaccuracy of the count due to duplicate pages and the irrelevance of the claim it has been removed. Search engines are beginning to focus mainly on serving relevant pages and not only on collecting monster sized indexes.

You can try to change your Google web results page settings to show as many as possible on one page. Then when you search for a keyword just search that page and see what number of result you're in. Then divide by 10 which is what most people get when searching. Take into account that different results are shown to people according to their history on Google (they learn what sources they trust and show results accordingly etc.). That means that even if you see it on the first page it doesn't necessarily mean that everyone will find it on the first page.
If you have a public page or group on Facebook then it would be indexed by Google sooner or later. You may check it using Facebook Search site listed below. It uses Google search engine for searching pages around Facebook. Good luck)

This number belongs to Google. You were most likely redirected to a hotel website page after searching on Google and saw this number pre-filled in the hotel reservations page you were directed to -- this is so the Hotel Chain can pay Google their commission for sending you as a referral.
