∙ 11y agoThe DOJ says about 1% of the population is in prison, about 3 million, and 1 in 8 are in for marijuana. That would be about 375,000, (and 89% of those are for possession, 335,750) costing about $1billion/year to keep them there. That dollar figure seems low to me, at less than $8 per day per inmate.

I believe many other states to increase the punishment for intent to distribute even with marijuana.
