In a July 22, 2009 statement by Federal Trade Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski before the United States Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation Hearing he indicated that there are over 270 million cell phone subscribers in the United States. That means that 87.4% of the U.S. population are cell phone subscribers.
