The scores are laid out on a dart board with numbers mixed up from 1-20 round the out side, a pattern of red and green under the numbers, this is called a double ring so if your dart lands on either the green or red in the double ring it doubles the number of which section you got it in for example in you landed on the double ring of the number 20 your points would change to 40. Below that there is a triple ring which is the same as the double with the red and green but if you land on a triple you times the number from the section you landed on by three for example if you landed on a 2, your score would raise to 6. Then you have a single green ring in the centre of the dart board called the bull, if you land here you get 25points and finally there is a red circle in the middle of the bull called the bulls eye if your dart lands in the bulls eye you get 50 points.

Not quite sure where that number came from, but:

Singles = 210

Doubles = 420

Trebles = 630

Bullseye (Inner & Outer) = 75

Therefore they all add up to 1335

Is the answer not 1,545?

I see the top answer states 1,335 and understand the workings but this doesn't include "every section" (which the questions asks) as there are actually two single sections for each number on a board i.e. working from outside in, for each number there is a double, a single, a triple and another single before you reach the outer bull.

Therefore, add another 210 to the 1,335 to get 1,545.

On a standard dart board which is the lowest score you cannot get with 1 dart?

61 is incorrect. The question asks for the lowest score you cannot get with one dart. It is true that you cannot get 61, but neither can you get 59. Therefore 61 is not the lowest impossible score with one dart. The correct answer is 23. You can obviously score any number from 1 to 20, so we can exclude that range. You can get 21 (3×7) and 22 (2×11), but you cannot score 23 with a single dart.

What are dart boards made of?

Most dart boards are made of sisal fibres. Sisal is a stiff fibre that comes from a plant. Sisal is the same material that twine and rope is made from. Cheaper dart boards are made of cork or some type of coiled paper. Quality dart boards are made of sisal fibers. Sisal fibers are from a plant that looks like a pineapple with swords growing from the top (the swords look somewhat like aloe leaves) and are often grown in Brazil.
