I try and keep it low , usually around 29 -31 depending on what I have open , as far as windows , Mozilla , and other programs , but the lower the better.

It will vary depending on what you're doing. If you have more than 30 showing after a fresh reboot, there's a good chance you have spyware or something else running on your system that shouldn't be.
