Not many genuine prophecies are to be found in the Bible although pious Christians claim to have 'found' hundreds of prophecies in the Bible, some of which are supposedly yet to be fulfilled but, looked at objectively, the alleged prophecies never seem to say what they are claimed to say.
Burton L Mack (
Who Wrote the New Testament) describes the trick wherein one can ask any question of the Bible and get some kind of answer, then if the first answer does not appear to be helpful, one looks for another answer to the same question, until the right answer appears. With a little ingenuity, one can set up the comparison again with other emphases and make the answer come out right. In this way, it really is possible to point to hundreds of 'prophecies', but it is important only to identify prophecies that can be explained as foreshadowing an event that eventually did occur, or events you expect to occur in the future, such as the Second Coming.
Perhaps the best known traditional Christian prophecy is said to occur in Isaiah 7:14 says that a virgin would conceive and bear a child, because the Gospel of Matthew relies on this as evidence that the virginity of Mary had been prophesied. Isaiah 7:14, in the original Hebrew, actually says, "the young woman", and the young woman in question did have a child a few verses later in Isaiah. And since the fulfilment of this 'prophecy' took place before the time of writing, it can scarcely be called a prophecy at all. The author of
Matthew relied on a mistranslation in the Septuagint, a flawed early Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures, to portray this passage as prophesying the birth of Jesus.
A New Testament prophecy that should have been fulfilled by around the middle of the first century, can be found in Mark's Gospel. Chapter 13 tells us that the world will end during the lifetimes of those then still living, with Jesus prophesying the end of the world and his own return on clouds of glory. Jesus told his listeners that they would see the great buildings destroyed, and the abomination of desolation, followed by the Son of man coming in clouds of glory, and that this would take place during their own generation. Mark 9:1 foreshadows the fuller account in chapter 13, saying that some of those who stand here will not taste death until they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
Answer:According to the layout of God's commanded "annual Holy Days"... there are "seven phases" to His plan for mankind's salvation, and Satan and evil's removal from earth. Of those seven... only three are fulfilled thus far, and remain in continuous fulfillment until the last four are implemented.
God's plan is divided into two main phases based on the two annual "growing seasons" -- the smaller "early spring harvest"... and the more abundant "fall harvest."
The "harvest" being what people call "saved souls" or people.
The three spring Holy Day feasts are the "Passover, the Days of Unleavened Bread, and Pentecost."
Jesus fulfilled the Passover as mankind's perfect blood sacrifice through the shedding of His DIVINE BLOOD [DNA] for us.
The Words of Jesus Christ [the Bible] is the Bread or "pure food" that God's Children imbibe for their Godly character growth, development and "spiritual nourishment" of "Godly Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding" of God's Truth:
"...Thy WORD IS TRUTH." (John 17:17)
And on Pentecost, the Holy Spirit became available to people of all nations, because of the works of Jesus Christ after He ascended into heaven to His Father's side on His throne.
Since then... Jesus' sacrifice is remembered from year to year, His Word [Bread]has been open to greater and increasing understanding as the end time draws nearer, and the Holy Spirit is being given to those down through the succeeding centuries whom the Father is calling to rule the coming Kingdom of God with Christ.
The "early spring harvest" of God's plan, then, has been fulfilled... and remains in continuous fulfillment until Jesus returns to earth. As His Father continues to fill the offices and postitions [mansions] available for the smooth and efficient implementation and operation of God's Kingdom when it's ready. And as Jesus Christ trains those His Father is giving Him to handle those jobs and positions.
"...Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit in the throne of His glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel." (Matt.19:28)
"...the Ancient of Days came, and Judgment was given to the saints of the Most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the Kingdom." (Dan.7:22)
But the last four phases of God's plan have not been fulfilled:
4) The
Feast of Trumpets -- the "Day of the Lord," the time of Jesus' return [at the LAST TRUMP].
5) The
Day of Atonement [Yom Kippur] -- when the returned Christ lays all the sins of the world back on the head of the one who sinned first; Satan the Devil. And banishes him for a thousand years from influencing the nations of men.
6) The
Feast of Tabernacles -- the thousand year rule of the Kingdom of God on earth over the mortal nations of man.
7) The
Last Great Day -- Judgment Day, that follows quickly on the heels of the thousand year rule... which results in the salvation of the vast majority of the generations of mankind who were deceived and blinded by Satan, and who never knew the Truth of God.
These haven't yet been fulfilled.
These await the fulfillment of one other unfulfilled prophecy: the onset of the
GREAT TRIBULATION [unprecedented global turmoil and distress]... that shall usher in the DAY OF THE LORD, Jesus' return, and the final four phases of God's plan.
