A cord of firewood is 4 ft tall by 8 ft long by 2 rows wide. Firewood is usually cut about 16-18" wide, depending on who is cutting it. A rick, or apartment stack, is 4 ft tall, 4 ft long, and one row wide, so you're looking at about 4'x4'x16".
So yes, there IS a way to measure a rick. We cut and sell firewood for extra money in the winter and ricks and cords have a specific size.
A chord is 4'x4'x8' that's four feet tall , four feet wide and eight feet in length . If the fire wood is cut in two foot lengths then its two rick to a chord , If the fire wood is 16 inch lengths then 3 rick to a chord , If the fire wood is cut for cook stoves at one foot lengths then four rick to a chord , There's a lot more work in shorter wood so cost can be whatever the seller is asking
Sorry- I can't give you an answer- because a rick is actually not a legally defined term. In some places, it might be a third of a cord, in some places, a half. Legally, firewood is measured in CORDS- which ARE legally defined (Snugly stacked 4'x4'x8'). Terms like ricks, face cords, long cords, country cords, etc are vague and misleading. So is "Truckload". That can be 1/5 of a cord, or 4 cords, depending on the truck, whether wood is stacked or dumped into truck at random. By the way- a cord of round wood, when split, will now take up less space- pieces fit together with less air space than round logs.
A cord of wood is 128 cubic feet. A rick can be anything the seller wants to say it is. Best way when buying a rick without being ripped off is to demand to know the actual cubic foot measure of what the seller calls a rick.
There is 3 Ricks in a Cord 16 inches X 4 foot high X 8 foot long.
A chord is 48 inches X 4 foot high X 8 foot long.
Of course it depends on the size of the split logs, but generally we find there are about 160 pieces of wood in a 4X8.
Number of pieces crosswise = 4 ft / 8 inches = 48 inches / 8 inches = 6 Number of pieces lengthwise = 8 ft / 20 inches = 96 inches / 20 inches = 3 So, total number of pieces = 6*3 = 18.

A mortise and tenon joint connects two pieces of wood or other material. Woodworkers around the world have used it for thousands of years to join pieces of wood, mainly when the adjoining pieces connect at right angels. In its most basic form. a mortise and tenon joint is both simple and strong.
