About 650 rounds per minute. You will use up an entire 30-round magazine in just a few seconds of constant trigger pull. That's why M16A2 has only single shot, and 3 round burst switch.
It had a cyclic rate of fire of 600 rounds per minute, rapid rate of fire of 200 rounds per minute, and a continued rate of fire of 100 rounds per minute.
The cyclic rate is 700 to 900
They don't carry ammo in boxes. Basic load depends on the weapon system. 210 rounds for the M4 or M16, 600 - 800 rounds for the M249, 800 - 1000 rounds for the M240.
M-16: The M16 is more accurate, fires at a faster rate, lighter, wider range, and more versatile allowing more modifications. Some modifications include a M203 grenade launcher and a silencer. It uses a 5.56 mm caliber bullet. Can fire 700 to 950 rounds/min depending on the modifications and the model. The M16 Isn't as loud as the AK-47. It weighs 8.5 pounds when not loaded and when loaded is 8.79. The barrel length on a standard M16 is 20 inches making it more accurate. Can be effective up to 550 meters. The standard M16 rifle uses a 30 round magazine. AK-47: The AK-47 on the other hand uses a 7.62 mm thus making it more powerful than a M16. It can fire 600 rounds/min making it slower. The best deal you can get for an automatic weapon. Its also easy to operate, clean, and repair. It is heavy making it harder to carry and fire, Thus making it less accurate. AK-47 has a bad safety mechanism. It has a 16.3 inch barrel. It's effective range is around 100 to 800 meters depending on the weapons sight adjustments. The standard AK-47 can hold a 30 round magazine. It may hold more by adding bigger magazines such as the drum magazine which may hold up to 75 rounds.
Pretty much the same way you fire any rifle. Once you chamber a round, you just pull the trigger. You have the option of single shot or multiple shots, which fires a three round burst.
The M16 sieries of rifles are individual combat weapons.
the M16 assault rifle is composed of steel, aircraft grade aluminum, composite plastics, and polymer
The M16 assault rifle has a cyclic rate of fire of 700-950 rounds per minute, and 45-60 rounds per minute in semi-automatic fire.
The cyclic rate of fire of the M16 assault rifle is 700-950 rounds per minute.
The M16 assault rifle is chambered for the 5.56x45mm NATOcartridge. Most can also fire the civilian .223 Remington cartridge.
The M16's of today fire only in short round bursts; about 3 rounds per trigger pull. These weapons were modified after the Vietnam War, when after action reports were studied; they found that men were firing more rounds and hitting the enemy less. Translation: Approximately 3,000 bullets to kill/wound one enemy soldier in Vietnam. Consequently, the US Army decided "to not waste anymore ammo", and modified the M16's for short round bursts; no more "Rock 'n Roll!" All US military small arms weapons specify how many rounds PER MINUTE a designated weapon will fire. Since no one (other than the factory) can fire a M16 fully sustained for one minute, because no magazine exists that can hold one minutes worth of .223 ammo (5.56mm); during Vietnam...a standard M16 magazine of 20 rounds could be emptied within 3 seconds, on full rock n roll (fully automatic). And be advised, MOST GI's loaded only 18 rds in their magazines, 20 rounds put too much pressure on the magazine spring...and if not used within a period of time...dust, dirt, moisture, etc. all conspired to cause the spring to fail...creating a jam. IF, during a firefight, and ammo was freely being expended, then a full 20 rounds would be charged into the magazine...because the rifle was going to be emptied within seconds anyway (fired).
700 - 900 rounds per minute (cyclic), just like the M16A1, Diemaco C7 and C8, M4A1, etc.
30 rounds, However, many soldiers load 29 rounds to reduce the possibility of a first round fail-to-feed.
There is no M-16 machine gun. There is the M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) which fires the same ammo as the M-16 and there is the M-60 Machine gun. The M-60 can fire 550 rounds per minute. The M-249 can fire up to 850 rounds per minute if the barrel is changed out every minute. Actually according to http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m249.htm the m249 can fire up to 1,000 rounds per minute, the new Heckler & Koch XM-8 assault rifle (the future replacement of the M-16) can fire up to 750 rpm, and the M-16 (which does exist; to the person above me) according to http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m16.htm fires 800 rpm.
Both can go up to about 900 rounds per minute, depending on model. However, MOST P90s have a larger magazine than MOST M-16s, which would increase the EFFECTIVE rate of fire.
Many companies sell m16 style magazies. They may be real-cap and have 30 rounds, mid-cap and have 50-100, or hi-cap 300 rounds.
It depends strictly on the magazine. Some magazines hold 10 rounds, some hold 30 or more.
