Answer
I was interested to find out about this, and wandered the Internet a few minutes. I found this remark at (I think) the "Liquor Snob"."....A handle of vodka will give you and four of your buddies (that's five people) 6.7 shots each."
By my calculations, that would be 33.5 shots of vodka in a handle. Anyone else know better, or differently?
Cathy Williams google 1.75 liters to shots, and googles unit converter will do the rest http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=1.75+liters+to+shots
its 39.4496932 shots if your too lazy
1750 ml = 59.17 ounces
59.17/1.5 ounce shot glass=39.44 shots
proof/100*59.17= number of drinks
*footnote:
There is not necessarily a definite volume for 1 shot. Depending on who is pouring the shot, assuming a bar situation, it can be anywhere from 1 to 2 oz, 1 or 1.5 oz being most common.
