In every country, the song that's chosen by the most voters, by telephone or SMS - regardless of the actual number of votes - is awarded that country's 12 points, followed by 10 points for the second most chosen song, eight for the third, seven for the fourth, six for the fifth, etc. If the televoting system fails in a particular country, a backup jury is on hand to assign that country's votes.
