There are regular formulations of Tylenol (e.g. Tylenol 3 or Tylenol 4). They contain 300mg of acetaminophen. There are Extra strength formulations (e.g. Tylenol Extra Strength or Tylenol PM). They contain 500mg of acetaminophen. And there is Tylenol 8 Hour formulation which contains 650mg of acetaminophen.

The maximum dose of acetaminophen for adults is 1000mg at a time, and 4000mg per day. So, it all depends on the variation of Tylenol you have. You may easily calculate how many Tylenol doses you may take at a time and during the day not to overdose.

You also have to keep in mind that other medications may contain acetaminophen, too (e.g. Darvocet), and if you combine them with Tylenol you must be very careful not to exceed to maximum dose of acetaminophen taken altogether.

Acetaminophen, or APAP, is an effective pain killer, and is not typically dangerous to the healthy patient if proper dosage is strictly adhered to. While APAP overdoses are very rarely instantly lethal, even a relatively small overdose, or high dosage chronic usage can damage many organ systems, particularly the liver and kidneys, sometimes irreparably. The aforesaid maximum daily dose is correct. A continued course of over 10 days for adults or 5 days for children, requires the oversight of a physician. Exceed either of these at your own risk.

Note also that Tylenol 3 and Tylenol 4 prescriptions contain codeine as well. However, the overdose threat is from the APAP more than the codeine, all other factors being normal.

It depends on the strength. 500mg tablets you would have to take 9 pills before overdosing in a 24 hour period. 650mg tablets would be 7 tablets.

The total dosage of Tylenol allotted in a 24 hour period is 4000mg.

How much Tylenol does it take to overdose but not die?

In one sitting taking anywhere from 6-200 will overdose but not kill. If one person takes 50-200 a day for a week that will kill a liver enough to die. Otherwise the overdose is not lethal if only taken one time. DO NOT OVERDOSE ON TYLENOL- it is extremely painful

Can you take regular Tylenol with Tylenol 3?

You can if you do not exceed the maximum dose of Tylenol taken at a time (1000mg) and during the day (4000mg). Tylenol 3 contains 300mg of acetaminophen. Tylenol Extra Strength contains 500mg of acetaminophen, Tylenol 8 Hour contains 650mg of acetaminophen. So, you have to count not to overdose.

How far apart to take percocet if took Tylenol?

How many milligrams does it take to overdose on hydrocodine?

That depends on the person. If they have a a high tolerance from years of use it can be over 10. I know a person who can take (16) 5mg tablets of Oxycodone which is stronger but without the Tylenol and have no overdose affect. On Hydrocodone the second number AKA the 500mg is the amount of Acetaminophen or Tylenol in the combination. A person with great tolerance would probably get sick off the Tylenol before a Hydrocodone overdose. Now that is a person who takes a lot of Oxycodone. I guess if you are looking for a basic rule, figure the max amount a person can take before feeling sick and add three pills and that should be an overdose to kill. An overdose is explained when the person gets sick from the medication and the body rejects it. Hydrocodone slows the pulse rate and hampers breathing. So an overdose that kills will stop the heart and lungs!

What happens to someone who attempts suicide with an overdose of Tylenol pm?

A suicide attempt with Tylenol is painful. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and irritability are all symptoms of an overdose. Tylenol affects the liver and may cause the liver to fail requiring a transplant, and they will experience all the symptoms of liver failure including jaundice, diarrhea, swollen abdomen, easy bleeding, fatigue, and mental conditions. Tylenol may also cause kidney, heart, and multiple organ failure. People who survive a Tylenol suicide attempt regret the attempt greatly.

Can you take Dilaudid and Tylenol together?

Dilaudid (hydromorphone) is a strong opiate that does not contain Tylenol (acetaminophen). Therefore, you should be able to take it with Tylenol. However, medications that already contain acetaminophen (such as Vicodin, Percocet, and Norco) should NOT be taken with Tylenol. The reason for this is because an overdose of Tylenol can very likely cause damage to the liver.
