Mr. Obama also won the electoral college, receiving 365 electoral votes to Senator McCain's 173. The 2012 election was a bit closer, but President Obama still won re-election, getting a popular vote total of 65,907,213 to Mitt Romney's 60,931,767. In electoral votes, Mr. Obama earned 332; Mr. Romney received 206.

Barack Obama won 365 Electoral votes, carried 28 states and won by a margin of 52.9% to John McCain's 45.7%. McCain won 173 Electoral votes and carried 22 states.
