The power consumption will vary with manufacturer/model etc. but it will always be on a label on the TV, normally near the power cord connection on the back of the TV. I've recently been looking in stores, and I'd say approx 90-130 watts.
The only way to know for sure what power a television consumes is to check the manual. As a guide, older LCD televisions would use up to 150 Watts or so. In 2010, a typical power consumption level is under 100 Watts for a new television. LCD televisions using LED backlighting rather than fluorescent will use slightly less power.
The power consumption will vary with each manufacturer/model etc. Most 32" or smaller Flat screen TV's will use between 50 and 150 watts, which is 50% less than what Normal/Tube/CTR TV's use. There are four places to find your TV's exact wattage...
1) Is the back of your TV on the product information label.
2) Is near where the power plug connect to the TV.
3) Is in the TV's Owners Manual, under "Tech Spec's".
4) Is on the brands website. Use your search engine and search for "*brand* Owners Manual" then navigate to "Tech Spec's".
I recently (in 2011) purchased a Vizio(which is manufactured by Samsung with all the same electronics) 32" flat screen TV, model number E321VL from Wal-Mart. It uses 49 WATTS.
Knowing your products Wattage is important for several reasons... Using a generator during power outages, using solar or wind power, or for looking to save some money on your electric bill.
400W should do it...
An LCD TV with a traditional flourescent backlight uses about 110 watts of power. A LED backlit LCD TV uses about 85 watts of power in the 32-inch size.
