There is ONE wild card team selected from the American and National leagues at the end of the season.

The team in each league with the best won-loss record that is not a Division winner ( three Divisions in each league) is the Wild Card Team and will join in the post season playoffs.

Wild card ties are settled witha ONE game playoff between the teams that are tied.
