The Bible says King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines. As archaeologists say this was a large proportion of the entire population of Jerusalem at the start of the tenth century BCE, this would mean, if read literally, that the entire male population lived in enforced celibacy. Nevertheless, over a period of forty years, the Bible mentions no uprising against Solomon.

How many wives did Solomon have according to the Bible?

700.1 Kings 11:1 King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh's daughter-Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. 2 They were from nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, "You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods." Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. 3 He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. 4 As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father had been.

What king had the most sons in the Bible?

Possibly Solomon had many wives, but I don't know how many kids. Since he had 700 wives and 300 concubines, it would stand to reason that he probably had the most children out of all the Kings of Israel. Solomon, however, was deemed wrong by God for multiplying wives unto himself. "Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold." Deuteronomy 17:17.

Did God allow you to have more then one wife?

In the Bible Old Testament many men had more that one wife--Abraham and Jacob for example. King David had many wives and King Solomon had 700 wives! The Romans instituted monogamy. Modern Islam allows for up to four wives. Think about it--If God did not allow you to have more that one wife, it would be physically impossible to do so. The laws of men are the issue....

What was king Solomon's weakness?

Solomon did not honor the covenant that he made with Yahweh - that he would not worship any other gods. His foreign wives led him to worship their false gods. So the weakness - his love of woman over his God.
