It depends on the degree and nature of the incident and if the person pleads guilty, as there usually is a plea bargain where they will receive a lighter sentence. It also depends which state and country you are in. Usually, it is maximum of 20 to 25 years. If it's an accident like a car accident and the person involved does everything to cooperate with the police then they will usually receive a lighter sentence. If it's a hit and run situation, then the sentence will usually be longer.

usually you can get up to 2 to 5 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter but if what you do is serious enough you can get up to 7 to 14 years in prison
