The Bible is an inspired work of God. How do we know this? At 2 Timothy 3:16-17 it states, "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work." This text helps us to see that the Bible is a beneficial teaching aid for us, even today. It will help to enlighten us to things that we should and and should not do; it guides us. When you have knowledge it illuminates your pathways. Another scripture is found at Psalm 119:105, which reads, "Your word is a lamp to my foot and a light to my roadway." Here King David expresses his delight in the word of God. It also tells us how God's word through the Bible can act as a light to our path. In order for the light of God's word to become brighter for us to walk by, we must study it daily. You pledge a Bible buy holding up a bible and saying "I pledge alligaince to the Bible, God's Holy Word, I will make it a Lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path, And will hide its words in my Heart That I might not sin against God"
'Guiding light ' does not appear in the Bible. But the Bible refers to the word of God as being a light to our way: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119.105)
In Psalms 119:105 it says, thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path, in other words Gods word (the bible) is lamp to our feet, which shows us where we are in life and its a light unto our path, which shows us where we ought to go, and when we follow the light unto our path (the bible) we find our destiny ;)
I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God's Holy Word, I will make it a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path and will hide its words in my heart that I might not sin against God.
