I have never heard this, and after research, I have to conclude this is invalid.
I hope you're not too disappointed - but after all, eggs would be less expensive than applesauce, and possible easier to handle. So, there should be no problem in using eggs unless you are baking for a vegan.
Hope this helps!
use about 1/2 cup of applesauce to replace 2 eggs,
the conversion is usually: 1 egg = 1/3 cup to 1/4 cup of applesauce
"Applesauce instead of eggs" is most likely an invalid substitiution.
And yes, it would change flavor :( .
1/4 cup per egg
One potato = 1 egg
The measurement to subsitute applesauce for eggs is 3/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce in exchange per egg. Good luck with your cake!
One egg can be substituted for 1/4 cup of applesauce. For three eggs, one would use 3/4 cup of applesauce. Applesauce is a common replacement in cake and other recipes for eggs.
I've heard of this, but it actually makes a better sub for vegetable oil in a recipe than for sugar.
I'm sorry, but you can't substitute oil and water for eggs.
Often times, yes, this is a safe substitution. If there is a lot of oil (say 1/2 - 1 cup) it might be better to only substitute half of the oil for applesauce, otherwise it has the potential to interfere with the taste and texture too much.
Three quarter cup apple sauce is used to stand in for 3 eggs
No. There may be a very light hint of apple taste, but eggs do not contribute much if any flavor. There will not be a big difference and it will still taste wonderful!
They will be very dry and unpleasant, but, you can substitute unsweetened applesauce for oil or butter in brownies. A tasty, healthier solution to your problem.
The eggs you can substitute are duck, goose or ostrich eggs - basically any egg. All eggs have the same nutritional value, but make sure the eggs you use are fresh. When cooking, check the desired size. The nutrition value is the same in all eggs but not the size. For example, don't substitute a jumbo egg for a peewee egg (these are sizes) as you will get too much wet ingredient than desired for that recipe. Also, don't substitute a peewee egg for a jumbo egg because you won't get enough wet ingredient.
The specific weight of applesauce depends on the amount. For example, a regular sized container of applesauce in the store is about four ounces.
12 cups. You substitute applesauce in equal amounts to the oil. Applesauce works well in almost all baked items, but not in brownies. The brownies do not taste the same and seem to be dry without the oil. When baking brownies from a boxed mix, I have had great success substituting applesauce for the oil and also using egg whites instead of the yolks. My daughter used to kid me about all my low fat recipes until she ate the brownies.....after hearing how much she liked them, I told her what I did! I have become very conscious of cooking low fat since my husband had a heart stent placed several years ago....not in a major artery but still... I do admit that if I want to really "dress up" the brownies, I also have added some semi-sweet chocolate chips &/or chopped walnuts in moderation. Enjoy!
