My open water water course cost me around £300. I did do my open water dives in the Red Sea and the cost for a week was £500. That included diving everyday. I suppose it will depend on where you go. I completed my advanced open water course in Rhodes and I think it was less than £200.
In the US, classes normally vary from $150 to $350. The fluctuation in price is largely determined by factors such as: does the price include the final check out dive expenses? Are they shore or boat dives? Time of year and location.
The other expense that most all courses include is that the student must have their own Mask, Snorkel, Fins and Booties. Packages of quality equipment for personal gear will vary from $150 - $300 depending on where it is purchased.
