It depends on the gemstone. But when you get to the brass tax of it, a gemstone is worth only what a person is williong to pay.So to some it may be worth 2 dollars or nothing at all and to some it coiuld be worth hundreds or thousands of dollarsIf you think you got something special then do the right thing,have it certified it does not cost much to do,practically any jewelry store can do it.It will make the difference between your stone being worth hundreds to thousands,and basically chump change if you don't certify them..

The Prices for emeralds vary depending On the Colour, Clarity, Cut and Carat. To see what your Emerald is really worth go to a Jeweler...you cant get that kind of information over the internet

The value of jade depends upon its quality and color. Poorly colored fractured material is worth little, while solid, apple green jade is immensely valuable.

And the birthplace of the emerald also determines it's value.

Whatever you're selling is worth what someone will pay you for it.

Take your gem to a certified gemologist and pay to document the emerald's characteristics. Then, you'll have a basis upon which to compare your emerald to others with similar characteristics, to establish a fair market price for it.
